Michelles Background

Michelle attended the New York State Institute of Massage in Buffalo, NY, and graduated salutatorian of her class in 1996. She took the New York State board exam and received her massage license from the New York Department of Education and Licensing. Her training consisted of:
Anatomy and Physiology
Extensive study of the human body starting at the cellular level. Pre-med level curriculum included knowing and understanding the

skeletal muscle system and how it works with the bones, organs and nervous system
Myology
Study of muscles starting with the very fibers of muscle, tendon and ligament.
Kinesiology
Study of the human gait. Knowing and understanding how the muscles flow with the skeleton. Starting with placement of the foot on the ground and how it affects the joints of the knees, pelvis, shoulders and vertebrae
Pathology
Study of human disease and illness. Understanding how the compromised immune system affects soft tissue and skeleton.
Neurology
Study of the brain and central nervous system. Understanding the nerve pathways throughout the body and the affects of pinched and inflamed nerves.
Shiatsu and Reflexology
Study of the acupressure points along the energy pathways through the human body. Understanding how points on the head, hands and feet correlate with the organs.
